Citation Source

A URL or brand that an AI-generated answer attributes as the origin of a statement.

A citation source is the hyperlink (or brand name-check) inside a generated answer. Perplexity surfaces citations inline; ChatGPT lists them at the end; Claude embeds them as markdown links. Either way, being the citation is the win state of GEO.

Citations concentrate. In most categories, the top 3 sources capture 60-80 percent of all citations. The tail is long but thin.
